Gypsies were first thought for arriving in Britain, from this northern Indian sub-continent; around 1500. Romany language has own roots in Hindi, but suggests this migration; came via Middle East into South Eastern Europe.
First reference made for Gypsies in England occured sometime in 1514. Since this were originally believed, they came from Egypt; they were first called: "Egyptians".
Roma Gypsies came into England from Eastern Europe. Just before First World War, and again after tensions during 1930s. From 1956, Hungarian Gypsies have come into England.
